Title: Dream: Logic, Interpretation and Triggers

Run Time: 21 min 56 secs

Host: Luke Rodgers

Panelists: Nabbit, Oktober

Click Here To Play! (or Right click to download!)

Topic: Dreams

  •  Nabbit talks about dreaming in black and white and Oktober talks about how in some of her dreams do involve specific colors.

  • Nabbit delves into his fascination with dream logic and how as you wake up and start to try and explain…it all just falls apart.

  • Oktober talks about waking up from certain dreams and having to remind herself that the events in them did not really happen. Which leads Nabbit to talk about “Half Dreams” (the ones that happen just before you fall asleep and seem plausible).

  • Luke asks the panel about dreaming about work. Nabbit talks about stress being a trigger for dreams so work was a common theme. Nabbit also talks about how some times your dreams are trying to help you solve job issues (although, as he points out, in some absurd ways).

  • Nabbitt talks about some of the things that he experienced when lucid dreaming (he was able to do this randomly when he was younger). But he wasn’t in complete control (he couldn’t run, some items were fixed in place or hard to move, etc).

  • Nightmares come up and Oktober wonders aloud whether dreams are actually a parallel place…creeping Nabbit out when he tells the story of his worst nightmare. (It involves a pizza cutter….and it is crazy).

  • Oktober talks about a reoccurring nightmare involving a friend who passed away several years ago who gets up during the funeral and screams….leading the rest of the panel to drink a little extra heavy in hopes of getting to sleep after the show.

Game: “Drink It” Or “Sink It” Challenge:     “The French Fantasy”

Oktober enjoyed this sweet and tart cocktail (a little too much some might say). Served in a Manhattan style cocktail glass this is a smaller serving than some might make, so the panel talks about making it a little bigger. Nabbit comments on Luke’s penchant for using grenadine as a sweetener in his cocktails. Oktober really likes the orange, lemon combination in the drink. Try it out for yourselves…the recipe is posted just before these notes.

Title: High Standards

Run Time: 23 min 01 secs

Host: Luke Rodgers

Panelists: Nabbit, Major Monocle

Click Here To Play! (or Right click to download!)

Topic:  Something You Have Impossibly High Standards About

  • Luke talks about his incredibly high standards when it comes to movies. He believes that nothing is perfect and will nitpick things to the bitter end. Nabbit compares Luke’s issues to except even more difficult to analyze. This goes down the line even to trailers, which both Nabbit and Major Monocle mock.

  • Nabbit passes the torch to Major Monocle because he thinks he could diagnose Nabbit better. Nabbit does not deal with criticism well, especially when it comes to his house and home furnishings. Major Monocle and Nabbit talk about a particular example about moving a couch that illustrates this point.

Game:  “You Name It!”

This game gives the panel a chance to name a new thing….for better or worse.

Title: Arcades: Past, Present and Future

Run Time: 22 min 28 secs

Host: Luke Rodgers

Panelists: Nabbit, Major Monocle

Click Here To Play! (or Right click to download!)

Topic:  Arcades

  • Luke makes a joke about the Konami Game “Track and Field” and everyone is surprised that Major Monocle got it. Nabbit talks about how the game changed (button protectors?) and about advanced finger skills.

  • Major Monocle (being the youngest member of the group) has trouble understanding the concept of the early arcades. Nabbit and Luke talk about how Bowling Alleys and 7-11’s were where they spent a lot of their time.

  • Major Monocle tries to describe modern gaming as a console and a headset in your own place playing against people who are doing the same. Or as Nabbit puts it, “Like Skype….with graphics.”

  • Nabbit rants against the current trend of arcades being filled with giant versions of mobile games (like Fruit Ninja and TimberMan).

  • Luke breaks down the present of arcades into three categories.  First, Dave and Buster’s style places with newer games. Second, Hardcore collectors who are into getting original cabinets and parts. Third is the classic Bar-cade (Bar and retro games).

Game: “Drink It” Or “Sink It” Challenge

“Nikki’s Quickie” raised a lot of questions for the panel. Major Monocle had sworn off Mt. Dew years ago and was now being presented with a cocktail that only had two ingredients and the other one was Vanilla Vodka. Nabbit’s taste bud’s wouldn’t let him enjoy the drink because it’s look and taste were too different. Major Monocle thought it tasted something like a cream soda, which Nabbit doesn’t like. Try it out for yourselves and let us know what you think. (The recipe is posted right before these show notes on the main page)

Title: Imposter Syndrome

Run Time: 18 min 1 secs

Host: Luke Rodgers

Panelists: Oktober, Nabbit, Major Monocle

Click Here To Play! (or Right click to download!)

Topic:  What is Imposter Syndrome?

  • Luke starts off by explaining what the definition of Imposter Syndrome is. We begin to suppose that Major Monocle is the reverse of this….because he is the best around (according to his own opinion).

  • Nabbit points out that most people feel this way at some point, but Luke wonders whether we hold celebrities to a higher level because they do something “important.”

Title: Toast

Run Time: 15 min 6 secs

Host: Luke Rodgers

Panelists: Oktober, Nabbit, Major Monocle

Click Here To Play! (or Right click to download!)

Topic:  The Lost Art of Toasting

  • Nabbit is not a fan of toasts. His reasoning is that toasts now are forced. He doesn’t think there are enough genuine toasts. Luke argues that it’s because people are out of practice with the skill of a good toast.

  • Luke talks about one of his favorite bar toasts: “On the First Day God created Man. On The Second Day He created Woman. Here’s to second chances.”

  • Luke mentions a book about the history of bars and toasting in America. It’s called “America Walks Into A Bar” by Christine Sismondo.

  • Nabbit has the creeping suspicion that we’ve covered this topic before. Luke points out that this is the 82nd show and there was a lot of alcohol throughout…so maybe….but probably not.

Game: “Drink It” Or “Sink It” Challenge : Gentle Passions

A sweet drink made with Passoa, fresh squeezed orange juice and a dash of grenadine. Nabbit thinks the orange juice added a bit too much acidity, but liked the flavors. Oktober thought it was too much on the sweet side for her tastes and Major Monocle kept wondering when the toast was coming. The idea of turning this into a punch came up and it certainly sounded like a good idea. Give it a try and tell us what you think…the recipe is the post right before these notes.

Gentle Passion

  • 1 oz Fresh Squeeze Orange Juice

  • 1 Bar Spoon Grenadine

  • Combine all the ingredients in a mixing tin filled with ice.

  • Shake very well. (You want a good amount of dilution here so shake, shake, shake your booty!)

  • Strain into a small cocktail glass (or small champagne coupe) and garnish with an orange slice.
