Topic:  Zima May be Coming Back…

  • According to the BeerStreetJournal.com it appears that Zima may be making a come back. Major Monocle points out that he remembers Zima and then backs down because he’s pretty sure he wasn’t old enough to remember Zima (^_-).

  • Major Monocle wants Domino’s to bring back the 30 minute delivery or it’s free promise. It’s possible that the Major was a NOID in a former life. And don’t get NAbbit started on Pizza delivery by drone.

  • Oktober brings up that clear beverages coming back was already a thing….ever since they brought back Crystal Pepsi.

  • Nabbit also wants a new Showbiz Pizza. Not just a re-branding, he wants modern “uncanny valley style” animatronics. Really he just wants a Gorilla to sing him a happy birthday song.

Game: “You Name It!”

Each member of the panel is given the opportunity to name something new. The example given was ” Name a New Species of Flightless Bird.” Listen to the episode for the amusing answers. Here’s some of the other things they tried to name:

  • The Title of the Next Block Buster Film

  • A Millennial Term for Sex

  • You’re Next Job Title

Title: E-Sports and The Hot Seat

Run Time: 25 min 03 secs

Host: Luke Rodgers

Panelists: Oktober, Nabbit

Topic:  E-Sports: Viable Leagues or Fad?

  • Nabbit is not overly excited about the name “E-Sports”…He thinks it feels a lot like how everything had an “X” in it in the ’90s.

  • Luke asks who decides what games are played in competition? Nabbit says that it is a lot like viral video’s…you are never sure which one will hit it “big.” Oktober suggests that some companies (like Blizzard) are much more aware of the market than others.

  • Luke also wonders whether the leagues can sustain their existence because the games change over. He makes the point that it’s not like the NFL or NBA because the basic rules of the game are standardized.

  • The panel talks about whether the future of of E-sports is Virtual Reality. Nabbit thinks that it is too soon to tell, but it could easily become the next stage after the leagues get really well established.

  • Nabbit wants more than Shooters and Fighting games out of E-sports. He suggests bring back Mechwarrior! Strategy, Equipment Modification….and those pods!

Game: “Drink It” Or “Sink It” Challenge

It’s time for the Seat Warmer. An enjoyable combination of hot chocolate, caramel and, of course, Fireball Whisky. Oktober compares it to a Mexican Hot Chocolate, while Nabbit likes it but thinks it needs a marshmallow or two. Try it out and let us know how hot your seat gets. (Recipe is the post before these notes)

Title: Bad, Inappropriate and Kitschy Valentine Gifts

Run Time: 24 min 45 secs

Host: Luke Rodgers

Panelists: Oktober, Nabbit

Click Here To Play! (or Right click to download!)

Topic:  Bad, Inappropriate and Kitschy Valentine Gifts

  • Nabbit talks about Marriage Proposals on Valentine’s Day…not the most original gift. Which leads to the story of how he proposed to his wife.

  • Luke talks about how gifts that don’t serve any sort of purpose just seem like a bad deal on any holiday, but Valentine’s day seems like a prime time for them.

  • Everyone discuss the fact that a nice dinner is always a great gift. However, Nabbit brings up that the night before Valentine’s Day has gotten just as bad as the day itself.

  • Oktober likes to use her artistic talents for Valentine’s Day. Thats why she recommends getting Giant Cards for your significant other. She makes reference to one she did based around these ads….you get the idea.

  • The idea of tattoo’s as a gift or tribute came up as a bad idea…but we won’t judge.

Game: Movie Board (2.0)

We experiment with a new version of “The Movie Board.” In this version we draw cards with common Rom-Com tropes and write a movie based on them or retell a movie where they happened in a different way. Here are the tropes that came up.

Title: Novelty Tunes and Spiced Wine

Run Time: 20 min 04 secs

Host: Luke Rodgers

Panelists: Oktober, Nabbit

Click Here To Play! (or Right click to download!)

Topic: Novelty Tunes

  • Oktober talks about how novelty songs can start an entire franchise. She’s talking about Alvin and the Chipmunks. Song’s like “Witch Doctor” and “The Chipmunk Song” (again with the Christmas stuff). Get ready to learn more about Alvin and the Chipmunks then you ever wanted to.

  • Nabbit argues with Luke that Weird Al Yankovic doesn’t really belong in this category. His main point is that he has transcended the genre that he started in to found his own category. The panel agrees that his concerts are amazing.

Game: “Drink It” Or “Sink It” Challenge

Nabbit has flashbacks to Christmas and potpourri because of the warm scent of cloves and cinnamon. Oktober really likes this one and references another one of our warm drink recipes, The Warm Cherry Pie. Luke talks about how this is served at Holiday PArties (but Luke drinks it all winter). It’s great for slow sippers. Give it a try and let us know what you think. (The recipe is posted right before these show notes).
