Title:  Anatomical Oscars and The Wishlist

Run Time: 23 min 52 secs

Host: Luke Rodgers

Panelists: Oktober, Nabbit, Major Monocle

Click Here To Play! (or Right click to download!)

Topic:  The 88th Annual Anatomical Academy Awards

  • Major Monocle digs deep to show he knows at least one movie that was nominated…Star Wars.

  • Major Monocle expresses his love of all things Matt Damon. Oktober asks if “The Martian” is anything like “Moon”…. and the answer is no, no it is not. Which segues into the  Warcraft movie… which leads Nabbit to do a little jingle about the lack of Tauren’s.

  • It’s at this point that the panel moves on to the Best Actress category. <Side Note: Luke keeps calling Brie Larson’s movie “The Room”…it is actually just “Room.” This is important because this movie has nothing to do with the piece of schlock from 2003 known as “The Room”>

  • Jennifer Lawrence also gets a mention for her role in “Joy”…the panel is a little incredulous after they learn about the story line.

  • In the Best Picture category the panel starts talking about how Bridge of Spies had to be in there somewhere, because Tom Hanks.

Game: The Wish List

This game involved homework for the panel. They put together several products, both real and fake, and everyone tries to decide whether they are talking about an actual product or if they just made it up, but really want it.

  • NADkins – “Male Jewel Refresher Towelettes”

  • Stop Eating Poop – supplement which deters dogs from eating their own stool.

Title:  A Current Cocktail

Run Time: 27 min 26 secs

Host: Luke Rodgers

Panelists: Oktober, Nabbit, Major Monocle

Topic:  The Current Events Round Table….

  • Luke, Nabbit and Major Monocle fanboy out about DeadPool for the first couple of moments in the podcast. Nabbit relates the story about how difficult it is to sleep in the same house as his wife since they saw the movie, because she wasn’t quite sure what she was getting into.

  • On the crime beat, Major Monocle brings forth this West Virginia gem about a man who allegedly attacked his wife with a crossbow and a pistol and then shaved her head…

  • And then there is all the news about Peyton Manning….the lesson learned is to be careful if he is spotting you when you’re lifting.

Game: Florida, D.C. or Canada?

Can you identify which story belongs in which area?

Title:  Inappropriate Media and Love’s Sweet Sting

Run Time: 20 min 29 secs

Host: Luke Rodgers

Panelists: Oktober, Nabbit, Major Monocle

Topic:  Inappropriate Media and the Drama it brings…

It all went south right from the beginning with this argument about snack cakes….Along with a reference to this music video by a master of parody….

Oktober mentions Teen Mom, Major Monocle brings up (some personal details) about 50 Shades of Grey, and Nabbit starts delving deep into the history of censorship in television.

We return to the argument about the definition of reality tv…and Nabbit goes off on HGTV…while Oktober reminds people that Lizard Lick Towing is not real either

Nabbit brings up that drama/controversy help generate ratings…and that segues into DeadPool

Luke brings up Breaking Bad as an example for controversial tv that was designed to make the audience think and get outside their own little bubble.

Game: The “Drink It” or “Sink It” Challenge

The panel enjoys a semi-romantic drink called “Love’s Sweet Sting.” Based on a Vodka Stinger this drink has a semi-sweet/fruity flavor with the sharp edge of vodka. The panel suggested that it could use another element, to which Luke suggested that adding Lady Godiva’s White Chocolate Liqueur would make the drink a little smoother and sweeter. Try it out on someone you love and let us know how it goes.

Love’s Sweet Sting

  • 1 1/2 oz Vodka

  • 1 1/2  Heavy Whipping Cream

  • 1/2 oz Strawberry Syrup

  • Heart Shaped Chocolates (I used Dove Red Velvet Chocolates here)

  • Chill small cocktail glass. Prepare chocolates for garnish (see below)

  • Combine vodka, heavy whipping cream and strawberry syrup in mixing tin with ice.

  • Shake well.

  • Strain into chilled cocktail glass. Grate chocolate on top.

Garnish :

Heat a butter knife (just warm, not glowing red) and make an angular slot in the heart shaped chocolate. (Be careful and be safe!) I also recommend having a paper towel on hand to wipe of some of the melted chocolate (makes a cleaner look to the garnish)

Title:  Romance, Fire and The Treasure of Hazzard

Run Time: 16 min 40 secs

Host: Luke Rodgers

Panelists: Oktober, Nabbit, Major Monocle

Click Here To Play! (or Right click to download!)

Topic:  Romance: How To and Not To…

  • Nabbit’s advice for all people during this time of year… “Valentine’s Day is a day…it doesn’t have to be more or less than any other day…”  In other words, do what you want to do.

  • Valentine’s Day…one of several Amateur nights in the bar/restaurant scene.

  • Overall the panel’s advice runs the gamut from “Don’t advice from us” to “Romance is dead” and all the way to “Love Thyself.”

Game: “Drink It” or “Sink It” Challenge : The Treasure of Hazzard

Based on some of the flavors found in a drink called a Daisy Duke, but a lot simpler. Major Monocle said it “tastes like a good time.” For some it was a bit potent (As Nabbit put it, “A Punch In The Teeth”), but Catherine Bach’s character was no shrinking violet.

So we’d like to know what you think…here’s the recipe.

Treasure of Hazzard

  • 1 oz Makers Mark

  • 3 oz Orange Juice

  • 1 oz Grenadine

  • 4 oz Lemon Lime Soda

  • Orange wheel and cherry for garnish

  • Combine Makers Mark, Orange Juice, grenadine and Lemon Lime Soda in a glass or mixing tin.

  • Pour into mason jar with ice (or glass of your choice).

  • Garnish: Take orange wheel and bend together with cherry in the middle. Spear with cocktail pick (possibly two as shown here) to hold together.
